Louisville, KY’s heavy-hitters Coliseum are set to release a new album, House With A Curse, on June 22. 2010 via Temporary Residence Limited. House With A Curse was “recorded with Kevin Ratterman at the Funeral Home in Louisville and mixed by J. Robbins at the Magpie Cage in Baltimore, it features eleven brand spanking new Coliseum tunes, plus appearances from all our guests you’ve heard about already.”
Before the album’s release, Stereogum is offering an exclusive stream and download of the first track, “Blind In One Eye”.
The band is hitting the road after the album’s release with Toronto’s Burning Love joining them. The tour will cross the U.S. and Canada:
NYC group Interpol may not have a title for their soon-to-be released new album, but in the meantime they are giving you a free song, “Lights”. The track is reminiscent of the Shoegaze movement of the mid-90s and hints at Joy Division. But rest assured that it’s very much Interpol.
Download the track here.

According to the UK’s Guardian Newspaper, Faith No More vocalist and musician, Mike Patton, will be working with legendary comic book and graphic novel writer/creator Alan Moore, on an upcoming project. This collaboration had initially been reported and then retracted sometime last year by the Guardian. The collaborative effort, now confirmed, will take place in the form of a “photographic novel with accompanying soundtrack” entitled “Unearthling”. Also attached to the project are Justin Broadrick (Godflesh, Jesu), Andrew Broder (Fog), rapper Deseone, and a slew of cameos by other musicians.

Generic Insight Radio Fest Part 1: Put Your Passion Before Your Sanity
By Barrie Cohn
Hello, folks. My name is Barrie. Some of you may be familiar with my weekly Internet radio show, Generic Insight Radio. If you’re not, go here to find out more information.
I started the show in February of 2006 and despite a couple-month hiatus I took in the winter of ’08, have been pretty consistent with the weekly broadcasting. Doing this radio show has given me many opportunities; getting to interview countless bands, releasing a compilation CD featuring an exclusive track from OnGuard, a short lived solo project from one of my favorite musicians (Jason Shevchuk of Kid Dynamite/None More Black fame). Even getting to know the people at labels I’ve grown up on. I can’t even begin to fathom how it’s impacted my life. The biggest honor however was being offered a spot as one of the sponsors for The Fest 8 in Gainesville, FL this past year, a trip that planted the seeds of moving my pet project out of the studio and into a venue.

The Burning Hotels
Novels
Miss Press Records
The cynic in me wanted to trash The Burning Hotels as a talented but merely serviceable group about five years too late to cash in on The Strokes success. All the signs are there to see. Simple foundations of clustered guitar chords, crooning vocals augmented by metronomic drumming: a NME wet dream, and a career that’s equally as fleeting. Only those signs are pretty much bullshit, traces of lazy writing and lazy listening. Both of which I was initially guilty of while listening to Novels. Somewhere around the fourth listen, it clicked. For all the glitz of its perfect sound and tight structure, Novels is indie rock for Built to Spill or Get Up Kids fans who want, in their secret heart of hearts, just once to hear their favorite band write a big pop record.
The speculation and rumor mills have gone into overdrive with the appearance of a new band/musician website (as well as Facebook, Twitter, and Myspace pages) for How To Destroy Angels. It is being speculated that How To Destroy Angels is a new musical venture involving Nine Inch Nails head honcho Trent Reznor and his wife, Mariqueen Maandig. All that is known so far is a “Self-titled 6-track EP out this summer.”
Only time will tell if this is indeed true. In the meantime, check out the 40-second clip on the site and stay tuned.
O Pioneers and Junior Battles have posted their respective contributions to an upcoming split 7″ on Kiss of Death Records. Click the art for each band’s side to hear the songs.
