The Get Up Kids Aren’t Breaking Up. They’d Like You To Know That.

The Get Up Kids have sent out a clarification after some blogs mistook their previously announced hiatus as the band rebreaking up. This is not the case. Here’s the band’s further clarification.

The Get Up Kids are not breaking up after this European tour, as has been erroneously announced in some areas of the press. What was said was that this could be the last set of tour dates for a spell, especially in Europe, as members are splitting off to work on some other projects for a while. That is—Matt Pryor has a new solo album, May Day (which was funded with the help of a Kickstarter campaign) that is due in January. Rob Pope is likely working on a new Spoon album (Britt Daniel has spent the year writing new songs for the next release). James Dewees continues to play in My Chemical Romance. Ryan Pope is spending some time in Europe. Jim Suptic is being a dad for the second time.

It is not even a ‘hiatus’ which always seems to mean something much more final. At this point, there are no Get Up Kids dates booked beyond the current set of shows in Europe, but that doesn’t mean we won’t be looking to do more live touring in the future. We’ve had a great time making these new songs, and playing them live, and have enjoyed being a band together again, so the Get Up Kids will be continuing on in 2012 and beyond. We started working on this current album, There Are Rules, over two years ago, and have toured the world supporting the release, for what will be the better part of 10 months (and in fact had played a lot in 2010 prior to the album release, too)—we have been working hard on being the Get Up Kids again. So taking some time to work on some other projects seems well deserved.

Kylewilliam Campol of imadethismistake Is Not Dead.

Despite reports this morning Kylewilliam Campol, formerly of imadethismistake, is not dead. A hoax email was sent out this morning to several news sites that read.

Kylewilliam Campol, the man behind recently broken up imadethismistake, has passed away at 23 years old. He was found dead in his Ft. Lauderdale, FL home late Thursday evening. A cause of death has not yet been determined, but his family reports he had been battling depression for some time.

When asked by The 1st Five about his death Campol had this to say. “I am not dead. I’m getting a hair cut.”

We interviewed Kylewilliam back in May of 2011 about the break up of imadethismistake, and you can download Imadethismistake‘s Different Ghosts right here. Please go enjoy some of his music.

The Get Up Kids Go Back On Hiatus After European Tour

The Get Up Kids have announced on their Facebook page that they will be going on a hiatus after their current tour to concentrate on their own projects.

“Hey friends, a heads up too, if you are thinking of making it out to one of the upcoming shows. This is most likely the last chance to see us over in Europe for a while – we are all pretty much splitting off to do some different projects once we’re back home. So if you’re saying “I’ll see it next time…” you may well have a long long wait! See you soon, then?!”

The band released There Are Rule in January of this year.

Video: Fucked Up – Do You Feed

Just prior to the release of their rock epic David Comes To Life, Fucked Up released a limited edition compilation of “cover” songs to provide some depth into David’s life, aptly titled David’s Town. The first single off of the record is “Do You Feed”, and the band, along with video director “Ludwig”, have just released a music video for the track. Watch it below.

Coliseum To Release New EP Parasites

Louisville, KY’s Coliseum will be releasing an EP of new material this November. Titled, Parasites, the EP is the follow-up to their House With A Curse album released earlier. The EP is due out via Temporary Residence Limited on November 15th.

Louisville, KY/Birmingham, AL power trio Coliseum is set to embark on a stateside tour supporting Japanese doom/sludge faves Boris in mid-October. Shortly after the tour, Coliseum will release the explosive eight song Parasites EP on November 15th via Temporary Residence Ltd.

Coliseum’s Parasites EP is the follow up and companion piece to their critically acclaimed third album, House With A Curse and their first release since this year’s wildly popular and sought-after Record Store Day split release with Superchunk. The bulk of Parasites was produced and recorded by J. Robbins (Jawbox, Burning Airlines, etc.) at Washington, DC’s legendary Inner Ear Studios, the site of classic recordings from Bad Brains, Fugazi, Lungfish, Rites of Spring and countless others. Rounded out by tracks recorded during the House With A Curse sessions, the Parasites EP shows Coliseum defying expectations and showcasing some of their most infectious anti-anthems and blazing hardcore tirades to date.

For the cover art, the band enlisted illustrator Rick Froberg, singer and guitarist of post-hardcore pioneers Drive Like Jehu, Hot Snakes, and Obits. Known for his fine art and unique album covers for his own bands, Froberg’s art rarely graces other bands’ releases, and his singular style gives Parasites EP a brilliant look and feel, and like the music within twists the trademark Coliseum aesthetic into new and exciting directions.
