Last night was the first night of the 14th annual Hometown Throwdown hosted by The Mighty Mighty Bosstones. In celebration of the Throwdown, the Bosstones have a new 7″ available only at the shows. The single has two previously unreleased songs: “They Will Need Music” B/W “Once And For All”.
From the Bosstones and their Big Rig label, the single is only available at the Throwdown. Lucky for those in attendance…not-so-much luck for those not. If you feel like doing us a favor and picking one up for us…me…that’d be awesome.
The Have Nots have released a cover of “White Man in Hammersmith Palais” by The Clash in honor of Joe Strummer’s birthday. Enjoy.
Two bands that are synonymous with hardcore, Agnostic Front and Insted, have joined forces…or rather some of the members have gotten together and formed The Alligators. The Alligators consist of Agnostic Front‘s Roger Miret and Rich Labbate, Steve Larson, and Barret Burt of Insted. If this not a hardcore supergroup, I don’t know what is!
Official press release:
Four of some of hardcore’s most important names from both coasts got together to finally bring back that early 80′s hardcore sound; this sound is called The Alligators, and they will be releasing a new record on Bridge Nine Records in 2012. Featuring members Roger Miret (Agnostic Front), Rich Labbate (Insted), Steve Larson (Insted) and Barret Burt (Insted), The Alligators sound a bit like something that might’ve been filed in between Miret’s primary band, Agnostic Front’s, landmark albums United Blood and Victim In Pain and is undoubtedly an old school hardcore band. The Alligators wear their influences on their sleeve – tipping their hat to bands like SSD, Antidote, Negative Approach, Poison Idea, Scream and more.
Vocalist Roger Miret commented:
“The Alligators has been a fun side project i’ve been doing with the guys from Insted (California hardcore band from the 80′s) – an odd fit you might think, but make no mistake: those guys are hard. Rich and I have been friends since the early 80′s and periodically talked about doing music together, so this is a record I’ve been meaning to do for a long time coming. With the addition of DYS and Antidote to B9 roster and the re-release of Agnostic Front’s ‘VIP/United Blood,’ we are happy to add this to the Bridge 9 family.”
The Alligators’ debut full-length for Bridge Nine Records, titled Time’s Up, You’re Dead, is slated to hit stores on March 27th, 2012 and more information regarding album details, new song premieres and upcoming shows will surface soon.
Agoraphobic Nosebleed have released a free Holiday EP titled Make A Joyful Noise, for a limited time on Bandcamp. The EP was originally released as a limited edition flexi-disc with an issue of Decibel Magazine, but now it’s yours. Enjoy.
Interpunk has led the pack with pre orders for the third Menzingers LP, now titled On The Impossible Past. The site is even giving away a free sticker and a poster with all orders (given they don’t run out), but it will cost you $18 for the LP. No word on what the poster will be, but you can take whatever you will of the art direction from the newly debuted artwork seen on your left.
On The Impossible Past will be released on February 21st.
Brendan Kelly of The Lawrence Arms announced some months ago his intent to record a solo full length under the moniker Brendan Kelly And The Wandering Birds. Not to be confused with his recent acoustic work, Kelly is treating The Wandering Birds as a new palate, rather than the acoustic reworking of Lawrence Arms tracks.
Today Red Scare Records has released the first three-song digital single from the band on iTunes for digital download. The single of the EP, “A Man With The Passion Of Tennessee Williams”, is streaming over at Alternative Press.
Blink 182 have released their video for “After Midnight” off 2011′s Neighbors. Click read more to watch. The video autoplays so we’re clipping it off the main page. Enjoy!
