DEAFHEAVEN Stream Their Cover of Mogwai’s “Punk Rock/Cody”

From Mogwai‘s 1999 album Come on Die Young, San Francisco’s Deafheaven have done a rendition of “Punk Rock” and “Cody” as on track to be part of the upcoming split 12″ EP with fellow Bay Area noiseters Bosse-De-Nage. The track is now streaming over at Pitchfork (click here) and the 12″ EP is already available for pre-order via Flenser Records (here).

Deafheaven definitely put their mark on the two tracks making them by their own by teetering on the brink of collapse somewhere between noise, shoegaze, and black metal. All the while retaining an underlying harshness that threatens to suffocate you and pull you under. Misery has never sounded so welcoming.
