Exclusive: Twilight Signs To Century Media Records And Adds Thurston Moore Of Sonic Youth To Their Lineup

Nachtmystium vocalist/guitar player Blake Judd has formally announced, in an interview with The 1st Five, that his black metal side project Twilight has signed with Century Media Records. The label plans on re-releasing the band’s self titled debut album, as well new material that will be recorded this Fall.

In addition to the signing Judd has confirmed that Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth fame has officially joined the band and will be featured on their new album. Judd had this to say about getting to work with Moore.

That is a perfect example of like what people ask: “What’s the best thing about what you do?” You know, most people expect the answer to be traveling, sex, money. No, man. The thing that makes me feel like I’m rich it’s the experience.

I’ve done so much shit, and worked with so many cool people, and I’ll get to work with Thurston and that…I would…you know Century Media could offer us a hundred thousand dollars to make that Twilight record and say: “Blake, you get ninety percent of that money but Thurston Moore’s not gonna be on the record, or, you can be on it and we’ll give you ten grand and that’s what you have to make it work.” And I would, I would take the ten grand and work with Thurston. That’s like how much I love Sonic Youth.

The current lineup of Twilight features Judd, Moore, producer/Nachtmystium keyboardist Sanford Parker, Stavros Giannopoulos of Atlas Moth, Wrest of Leviathan, and Imperial from Krieg. Currently the band also hopes to add Isis‘ Aaron Turner, Lichens‘ Rob Lowe, and Malefic of Xasthur to the list of contributors.

You can read more about the history of Twilight, how Moore got involved with the project, and Nachtmystium‘s new album Silencing Machine in our two part interview with the frontman. You can find part one here and here.
