Fucked Up have slowed down a considerable amount in the last couple years – at least in regards to their physical output. Gone are the days of monthly 7″ releases, but now we’re getting used to hype from mediums never expected. In a likely return to focus, the band have two upcoming releases planned (Three if you count their new album David Comes To Life, currently running without a scheduled release date), one of which is a 7″ collaboration with Ben Gibbard (of Death Cab For Cutie), Ted Leo (Ted Leo And The Pharmacists), and Mountain Goats comprised entirely of “cleaned up” GG Allin Covers. The 7″ is being put together by WFMU Radio, and the only way to get a copy is to pledge money to their cause. More details on that here. The second is a 37-minute live LP coming out of Atlanta’s Chunklet Records. More on that below.
A 12″ special live set recorded by these Canadians in Atlanta at the EARL last year. They barrel through a ton of originals and a cover of “Son of Sam” by Chain Gang. Also on the bill were Carbonas, Bukkake Boys and American Cheeseburger. Damian espouses his love of Pepsi versus Coke and dedicates way too many songs to record collectors.
The Live LP, entitled Coke Sucks, is only available through Chunklet and is currently being sold right here. Jump on early, as there are a number of different vinyl variants available.
