Weezer Guitarist Brian Bell Hints At Pinkerton Tour

At this point in our relationship Weezer is like a high school sweetheart who after being totally thoughtful, sensitive, and dreamy for the first couple of years suddenly failed to pick me up for the prom and has been acting gradually more obnoxious since. I’ll still defend Maladroit, the closest thing we’ll probably ever get to another Pinkerton from the band, but after that? They seemed to forget why a generation wanted them to reunite in the first place. Here’s a hint, it wasn’t so they could become a joke band and selling f-ing branded Snuggies.

But like any love sick teen I can’t help myself around Weezer. Try as I might I still listen to every album in hopes that Rivers will let me relive for just a moment how perfectly Pinkerton encapsulated being a dorky loser in love. How many records grow with you from 7th grade till you’re 26? I’ve been chasing a W shaped dragon for years. Of course “fun” Weezer barely plays any of those songs live, because really who wouldn’t rather hear ten cuts off Make Believe or the Red Album.

But now it appears Weezer might finally let me relive those golden days live. In a recent interview, posted below, guitarist Brian Bell hints that there might be a Pinkerton tour to coincide with the deluxe edition re-release of the album this fall. If it really happens my faith that the Weezer I once knew and loved still exists might be renewed. Sure, it’s probably a cash in and they might not mean the words they say like they used to. But Weezer was one of my first loves, and as long as they’re singing what I want to hear I simply can’t help myself around them.
