Touche Amore Announce Third LP Due Later This Year

Touche AmoreLos Angeles-based hardcore five-piece announced that they’ve entered the studio with producer Brad Wood (Sunny Day Real Estate, mewithoutYou) to record their third full-length record. While few other details are available at this time, it’s slated for a fall 2013 release on Deathwish. If you’re like us you’ll be counting down the days until this comes out, but in the meantime, the band has released a short teaser video you can check out below:

AC4 Premiere Another Video From New Record: “Burn the World”

20130424-102523.jpgAt the rate they’re going, will have a video for each song off their new record, Burn the World, before the month is out. Here’s the new video for the title track, directed Jonathan Lindley. It’s not the usual video fare of no-frills punk rock but it is certainly eye-catching and there are plenty of nuances and little details to pay attention to.

Video: DEAFHEAVEN In The Studio Recording “Sunbather”

DeafheavenPremiered and hosted by Spin.com, have released a short-form video of the band recording their upcoming album . The video, directed by Bryan Proteau, captured the band in the midst of the process of recording and discussing the new album due out on June 11th via .

Throughout the duration of recording their new album Sunbather, Deafheaven welcomed director Bryan Proteau into the studio to capture footage that would become this special sneak peek video, which premiered exclusively on Spin.com today. The video, edited by Bryn Owens, showcases the band at their most natural state inside the confines of Atomic Garden Recording Studio in Oakland, CA. Deafheaven vocalist George Clarke commented, “Having the recording process openly viewed is strange and vulnerable, but with Bryan having a particular closeness with this band, his involvement really sold the idea and the project ended up being a fun and worthwhile experience. We’re happy to share this small glimpse into the making of Sunbather.” Check the video out here.

Sunbather was recorded and engineered by Jack Shirley (Funeral Diner, Comadre) and designed by Nick Steinhardt (), Sunbather deals with the profound sadness found in the quest for one’s personal perfection, serving as an artistic lucid dream of warmth despite the stinging pain of life’s cruel idealism.

With opener “Dream House”, George Clarke’s tortured vocals familiarly intertwine with Kerry McCoy’s hypnotic guitar work before crashing into a wash of post-everything melody. This leads to the moving instrumental “Irresistible”, a track that carries a twisted indie-like sensibility buried beneath glittery layers of guitar and piano. However, it is in the title track and beyond where the maturation and growth of Deafheaven brightly shines. On “Sunbather”, they explore sonic peaks and valleys created by superb percussionist Daniel Tracy (new to the band for this recording). Daniel’s inclusion brings new dynamics to light as an urgent pulse to the swirling musical chaos, pushing bleak epic “Vertigo” and the dark emotional closer “The Pecan Tree” to new, awe-inducing heights. Without question Sunbather is Deafheaven at the peak of their creative strength and vision of their young existence; a 7-song, masterfully crafted work of art that will be renowned for years to come.

Sunbather Track List:
1. Dream House
2. Irresistible

Ok everyone. The announcement is real in all respects. We have missed you too. Thanks for all the entertaining comments. We are heading out to record a new record our new record in May. We have been working on it for nearly a year and have made that our biggest priority with this reformation and not to see how many “big” shows we can play. This is Hardcore wasn’t initially in the plans, but we are honored that Joe has asked us to share the stage with so many great bands and it will be a fun weekend.

We’ll have more details on this announcement as they are released. In the meantime, please join us in uproarious applause and squealing like schoolgirls in anticipation.

Review: Living Eyes – Who Will Remain?

livingeyes.whowillremain.hi
Who Will Remain?
Deathwish Inc.

Remember when hardcore and punk were completely pissed off and utterly miserable, and those bands let you know it in songs that clocked in at about a minute or so? Of course you don’t, you’re far too young and not jaded enough to remember those days. Luckily though we have a band like Living Eyes and their new record Who Will Remain? to remind you and/or show you what it was like back in the day. Or how it is still today, which is even better.

Who Will Remain? is a snarling and angry piece of hardcore captured on tape. From the moment the opening title track kicks into high gear with guitar feedback and a chaotic bassline, you know are in for a very frenzied and rageaholic ride. Living Eyes hold no punches here. It’s all about the raw and frenetic sound and sheer chaos that hardcore is.

With eleven songs clocking in at 13 minutes, what did you expect? Filler? Sing-songy ambient interludes? Hell no! This is hardcore! There is no room for anything else when you easily express what you want in a 51 second song. But there is room for heavy breakdowns in the crushing sound of the guitars all the while carried by the pained expressions in the vocals. Each track on Who Will Remain? will make you have a one-man mosh pit in your living room and by the time it’s over, you will have completely destroyed everything in sight. It will make you get off your lazy ass and move around, that’s for sure.

There is no reason to really “review” this record anymore. It has to be listened to and lived. You have to experience it for yourself and once you have picked up the pieces of wreckage that was once your living room, pray to Cthulhu that Living Eyes come through your town for a show and you get to dive in head-first into a real pit.

COLD CAVE Previews “Oceans With No End” From Upcoming New EP

20130129-143734.jpg, the long-running solo outing from (American Nightmare, Some Girls) will see the release of a new 7″ EP via . No set release date, the 7″ EP picks up right from where “A Little Death To Laugh” EP (Heartworm, 2012) left off and will feature two new tracks.

Cold Cave is the creative rebirth of acclaimed musician and writer Wesley Eisold.

Cutting his teeth in underground bands American Nightmare (Give Up The Ghost) and Some Girls, Eisold’s body of work has truly effected a generation of listeners. Through constant cross-pollination Eisold has gained mass appeal, influencing underground and popular culture with his ever evolving artistic vision.

With an already prolific number of releases, Cold Cave has become a name synonymous with the contemporary resurgence of Darkwave and Synth Pop sub-genres. Propelling Cold Cave to perform at world class museums The Getty and the Guggenheim, as well as performances with legends Sonic Youth, The Jesus and Mary Chain, among others.

“Oceans With No End” EP is the latest offering from Cold Cave; a two song industrial indulgence that picks up where “A Little Death To Laugh” EP (Heartworm, 2012) left off. Title track “Oceans With No End” uses upbeat electronics to create a melodious wash for Eisold’s pensive vocals to tread within. While B-side “People Are Poison” plods forth with an angry swagger in direct juxtaposition to the title track’s driving urgency. Together they are a blindingly beautiful example of morose music at its very best.

And here is the official preview of “Oceans With No End”
